"Toddler" meals with the Ketogenic Diet

I posted this last night but somehow I buried it within another post so I thought I'd retry....It was directed at Kim (contactkimd) but anyone please feel free to respond with your ideas.  Thanks so much!  Original post:

if you don't mind, would you please share with me the meals your boy ate that worked well.  My son is 28 months and will be starting the diet next month.  I'd like to be prepared with some meal choices to have the dietician calculate for me.  Being your son was young like mine, I would appreciate your input as far as toddler friendly meals.....A lot of meal ideas I see online are for older kids (meaning they include a glob of mayo or ketchup which we all know we would never hand over to a toddler :)

Thanks in advance for any help..

Sorry I did not respond earlier

Congrats! That is exciting that your son is going on the diet. I remember being so excited and nervous before Austin started on the diet. I always knew that it would work for him. For a year now Austin has been eating the same three meals a day and the same three snacks a day. He loves his food.

For breakfast 30 grams of scrambled eggs, 5.5 grams of tomato, 20 grams of whipping cream, 5.5 grams of oil (any oil, such as olive oil, flaxseed oil, walnut oil etc. ) and 8 grams of butter ( or margarine ) I just mix it all together and then microwave it.

For lunch or dinner- tuna, tomato or lettuce, whipped cream, mayonnaise (amount for meals depend on your child's size and weight etc.)

Lunch or dinner- chicken, blueberries, whipped cream, mayonnaise, oil I have to cut everything small as Austin is not great at chewing but he is better than he was when he started the diet. I serve the tuna and chicken cold like a salad.

I make all meals one day and freeze them for the week in small containers. Snacks whipped cream, apple sauce, some chewable vitamin mixed in I hope this helps you. Austin was never a picky eater so it was pretty easy for me.

Good luck

Meals

This might sound dumb, but when you say you make all the meals one day, do you actually cook each meal and then freeze it, or is it in raw form when you freeze and then you cook it as needed. Thanks.

That is a good question

I cook the boneless chicken breast first then cut it up small, then I weigh all the ingredients including chicken into small containers, then I freeze them all, when it is meal time, I just make sure it is thawed or I heat slightly in the microwave.

The tuna is from a can so it is already cooked.

The eggs and ingredients that go into his breakfast I cook in the microwave and then refrigerate for up to 2 days.

All of Austin's meals are all the ingredients mixed together. He does not learn to feed himself but I give him tiny pieces of lettuce to practice feeding himself and he does just fine, it is more important that he eats all of his meals.

Don't worry, the dietician will go through preparing the meals with you in a kitchen.

It is much easier than it seems at first.
