My daughter had one grand mal last November. An eeg showed a very unstable brain and the docs wanted to start her on Keppra. It took a couple months for the next appt and I told them I wasn't comfortable with Keppra so they put her on Lamictal instead. She's been on it a couple months and this month she's had 3 seizures. All different.
The first one was a tonic clonic.
Second one was like a tonic clonic but she was aware of what was going on and was trying to walk and could see a little. She was very afraid.(not sure what type this is called)
The third one happened today and it turned her head rhythmically & made her eyes 'fuzzy' for about 10 'pulses' few seconds during some computer work. (not sure what these were called either). She could talk during this too and was freaked that her head and eyes were stuck.
I think it is odd that she's having so many this month and only had one that we knew of before this. After some researching here, I have noticed that this is common. Meds increase seizures for many. Or am I completly nuts and too anti-medical establishment and looking for any excuse to get her off damaging drugs? It was difficult to put her on chemo drugs several years ago to stop nephrotic syndrome (kidney problem) and now I am in the same situation again! arrrr!!! It is hard to tell if epilepsy is as life-threatening as the nephrotic syndrome was...
sigh.. I wish this was easier.
