It has been a while since I have posted. Long story short, we had to put Andy back on Keppra after Zonegran not doing the trick. Keppra does work so we are back there. We will also be starting the Low Glycemic Diet in the near future. Here is my question, have any of you noticed with your ASD children that there is more stimming behaviors on these seizure meds? I cannot blame it on the Keppra because he started in the summer when he was on Lamictal only. Andy has never really had alot of stimming behaviors in the past. He did some but not like it is now. We are doing alot of sensory input with him at the moment and it will help to an extent but he will be right back at it. I have just ordered a weighted belt that hasn't arrived yet to try. Have any of you experienced this with your child? If so, have you found anything that worked to get this under control?

Hi Margie, I'm glad you posted your circumstances. It sounds like you're doing the best thing possible; providing sensory input that is. I know with my son, some days his stimming is completely out of my control, especially when it is an odd, repetitive laugh or relentless eye-blinking. For him, I usually have to get him in a room completely quiet, little light; seems he stims off the input sometimes. Melatonin helped when he did a lot of fidgeting, which was keeping him up at night and, beyond that, the same old sensory tricks you're using. Good luck - hope the weights work; we used a weighted blanket and a vest too. Amber Kane
