I'm looking for brave moms willing to talk about parenting - the down and dirty, the nitty-gritty stuff we rarely boast, or even talk, about when it comes to parenting.

Why?

Us moms need to help and support each other, which is the mantra of Grassroots Mama and the reason behind all my work here on GRM and through Autism Connection.

The best way we can do this, in my opinion, is to shed the outer layer of ourselves and dig a little deeper, so we can share that which really matters.

As parents we all have a huge responsibility to teach our kids healthy eating habits. Did you know that the future of your child’s health depends on how they eat now and the food habits they learn during childhood? Diagnosis: a large abdominal mass Prognosis: being a vegetable!

My name is Sam and I want to share with you my son Peter's story of epilepsy since 1990. I'll cut this as short as I can. You will note that in my story the fine medical doctors are far from perfect to say the least. Further, medical schools and the drug companies believe or pretend to believe they have all the right answers. Well, they don't!

Please do not be bullied and do not be afraid to question every doctor's statements.

Finally, a thorough article outlining the complexities and dangers of having epilepsy. The April 20th edition of Newsweek magazine did a front page story on "The Mystery of Epilepsy - Why we must find a cure". Great to see this kind of recognition from a major publisher.

13 Full pages have been dedicated to the story. The title of the article is "A Storm in the Brain - The toll of epilepsy has been overlooked and research underfunded - for too long. A call to action".

The Essential ADHD and Autism Cookbook

Catherine Jeans's picture

At last! A child-friendly cookbook for preparing delicious meals that don't contain gluten, casein and many other common allergens. Banana bread, cinnamon pancakes, chicken nuggets, cookies, pizza and enchiladas. Not foods you'd expect to see in the diet of a child with food intolerances and allergies. But the Kid-Friendly ADHD and Autism Cookbook, by Pamela Compart and Dana Laake can help any child on an elimination diet fall in love with food all over again!

Reading to your child is critical for their development. In fact, there are endless benefits of reading aloud to children.

Children who are read to from a very young age grow up with a positive attitude about reading. Because they enjoyed being read to when young, they often have a natural interest in learning to read as they grow up. Not only will children enjoy reading by repeated exposure, children also learn language skills which can do many things for them, including increase their vocabulary.
