Healing and Preventing Autism... Everything You Need to Know in One Book

Mum, model and actress, Jenny McCarthy has written a new book with autism expert, Dr. Jerry Kartzinel.  This book is an essential read for any parent with a child diagnosed with autism or who suspects that their child could be showing signs of autism.

The story of Jenny’s son, Evan and their journey to find a recovery for him has been well documented across the world.  When Evan was just two years old, he started to have terrible seizures which at one point saw him in cardiac arrest and seizing for hours at a time.  After an initial diagnosis of epilepsy, Jenny knew that there was something else behind her son’s sudden health deterioration.  Finally he was diagnosed with autism and his lack of eye contact, inability to communicate, and at times, constant screaming all began to make sense.

Like many Moms, Jenny knew she had to find out more.  Evan’s first seizure medication gave him terrible hallucinations and she decided there had to be another way to treat him.  Through her own research she began a journey that took Evan from severe autism symptoms to a complete recovery. In fact, within two weeks of being on a gluten free and dairy free diet he began to speak again.  And as she explains in her new book, Healing and Preventing Autism, “within a year of following Dr. Jerry Kartzinel’s protocol and intensive behavioural and speech therapies, Evan recovered from autism.”

Dr. Jerry Kartzinel – an autism expert both at home and at work

Also the father of an autistic child, Dr. Kartzinel offers in this book a complete guide for any parent desperate to know more about autism.  What is especially great is that he and Jenny both recognise that all autistic children are different.  There isn’t one treatment that suits all, but this book explores all the possible therapies which in different combinations seem to have success for many, many children.

Whilst many in the medical profession still deny that diet and supplements can help to relieve the symptoms of epilepsy, thousands and thousands of parents across the world would say otherwise.  In this book Dr. Kartzinel provides a wealth of information about treatment protocols which many children are seeing fantastic success with.  Strategies such as:

  • Gluten free and casein free diet
  • Investigating and removing food allergies and sensitivities
  • Removing candida and other yeasts from the gut
  • The importance of gut health and leaky gut syndrome
  • Supplementation of vitamins, especially B6 and B12
  • The importance of probiotics and the problem with antibiotics
  • Glutathione – the body’s chief detoxifying agent which autistic children are often low in

Dr. Kartzinel explains how all these factors can have a dramatic effect on a child’s behaviour and can be an underlying cause of many of the symptoms they suffer on a daily basis.  By healing the gut, removing foods which cause reactions and making sure the child has all the necessary nutrients it needs, very often they begin to show considerable improvement and the ability to participate in behavioural and speech therapies.  They also discuss what they believe are some of the most common causes of autism, which probably combine together to cause the symptoms.  They talk about vaccines, environmental toxins, antibiotics, gut health and a compromised immune system.

This book; Healing and Preventing Autism: A Complete Guide is a fantastic guide to autism and the latest treatments available.  If your doctor doesn’t recognise the value of changing the diet or healing the gut, it might be worth you getting this book and taking it to them to read.  Hopefully they’ll begin to understand the importance of taking a holistic approach and covering all the different treatment options.
