Jessica Clark's picture

It's very sad to hear that John Travolta's son--Jett, died on Friday after having a seizure and hitting his head in the bathroom.

I know he had Kawasaki Disease, which he developed around the age of two.

I have had trouble finding any information on the Internet about whether or not they tried any dietary interventions on hims--like the Ketogenic Diet.

Ketogenic Diet FINALLY Working:-)

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the Ketogenic Diet is finally working!

My daughter Milla started the diet in August on the 1stand within 10 days she was seizure free. Then she started getting them again :(  They like to decide after 3 months if you should continue the diet or not. Since Milla was having so many seizures the nurse on the phone was leaning towards the fact that the diet really wasn't doing anything. The strange thing is her diet was never changed or adjusted.

Drug-Free Control Over Infant Epilepsy

Typically if an infant were to develop seizures, they are most likely to occur between 4 to 8 months of age. Spasms that result from the seizures can range from mild to severe. As a form of treatment, researchers are not suggesting drugs be used as the first method of treatment for infant epilepsy, but rather dietary intervention. Researchers have found that changing a baby's diet can effectively eliminate spasms.

Hollywood star Meryl Streep was so moved by the Abrahams’ story that she decided to become involved in the fight to inform parents about the ketogenic diet.  She narrates and introduces the information video made by the Charlie Foundation which is available to parents across the world.

Streep was close friends with movie director Jim Abrahams, who asked for her help to increase awareness of the ketogenic diet as a treatment for childhood epilepsy.  His son Charlie was successfully prescribed the diet and after a few days his seizures ceased completely.
