Help – Son Diagnosed with Epilepsy about 4-Years Ago!

I am really not sure what to do right now. My son was diagnosed with epilepsy about 4-years ago, and we have yet to find a combination of medication to work for him. He is not having seizures everyday but it is getting to be more frequent. I know that it could be worse but it has affected him in school. He repeated the first grade which was ok because I did not feel that he was mature enough to move on nor did I feel that he retained the foundation that is needed to go to second grade.

He is currently taking three different anti-convulsant medications (Depekote, Trileptal and Zonagran) his neurologist is trying to wein him off of the Trileptal and gradually increase the Zonagran butI feel so helpless when he has seizures.

My husband is currently deployed on a 7 month tour of Iraq (USMC). I am 1077miles away from my nearest relative so needless to say this is very difficult for me right now.

My goal here is to possibly get some insight and encouragement from other parents battling epilepsy.
